As Suffolk Day gets underway, should there be a Norfolk Day?

The very first Suffolk Day is set to be held on June 21, celebrating all that is good about the county.

A range of events will take place on the day and local businesses are being encouraged to fly the flag - either the St Edmund flag or Suffolk County Council flag - in support.

The idea, spearheaded by the East Anglian Daily Times, Ipswich Star and BBC Radio Suffolk, stems from a successful model in Yorkshire, where a similar day has been running on August 1 for more than 40 years.

Inspired by Suffolk’s plans, some have suggested on social media that Norfolk should also have it’s own day.

Kevin J Murphy said: “There definitely should be a Norfolk Day, I’ve lived here for 20 years and Norfolk has give me everything I could ask for.”

Norfolk has so many brilliant things to offer, from its interesting history to the thriving arts and culture scene and fantastic food and drink offerings.

What do you think? Should the county have its own special day? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
