A yacht had to be towed to safety early this morning, Sunday October 3, after it ran aground at Wells harbour.
The town's lifeboat crew was called out at 1am to rescue the 30ft boat.
The yacht had been trying to enter Wells harbour on a rising ride and its crew misread the channel markers, ending up too far east.
They then tried to sail back to safety but the engine failed, forcing them to drop anchor and radio for help.
By the time the Wells crew, travelling in the Doris M Mann of Ampthill lifeboat, reached the yacht the tide had come in enough for her to be towed to a pontoon in the new outer harbour.
