Bradenham travelled to Mundford in the Mid-Norfolk Sunday League, their young team producing a fine, winning performance.

Again Brett Stolworthy captained the team, winning the toss and putting Munford into bat on a green wicket.

Will Dewing and Ryan Adcock opened the bowling, runs came steadily but the bowling was tidy with only 45 off the first 10 overs.

Stolworthy made bowling changes with the 14-year-olds Jason Ward and Ruben Leroy into the attack. The first wicket fell to Jason when he bowled the dangerous opener for 48. Munford were 93 at the half way stage.

Brett Stolworthy and Chad Balluza replaced the youngsters and the spin of Chad (2 for 14) off eight and the pace of Brett (1 for 9) off three slowed the rate even further. Another bowling change saw Will back on to take another wicket caught by Pat Dewing. Only 63 came off came off the last 20 overs.

Mundford finished on 160 off their 40 overs. A fine effort as three of the bowlers were only 14.

Bradenham opened with S Mathews and R Thurley. The scoring was steady but Rob was first to go, stumped when the ball bounced off the wicket-keeper's pads to hit the stumps.

Fourteen-year-old Thomas Christian joined Mathews to get the score up to 60 before Thomas played his shots and timed the ball well before playing one shot to many and being caught.

Mathews was joined by Pat Dewing and the score reached 105 when a mix-up occurred and Mathews was run out just four short of his 50.

The captain Brett Stolworthy joined Pat at the middle and took the score on to 133 before Pat was caught.

Andrew Wilton replaced P Dewing with still 30 runs needed, however both scored freely with six boundaries coming in quick succession. Between them they reached the target with seven overs still remaining. Brett finished 26 not out and A Wilton 16 not out.

Apart from a couple of fielding errors this was a fine performance with such a young team. Next game is at home to Hethersett and Tas Valley on July 3.
