Mattishall entertained Caister on a heavy surface which the officials were happy with and slipped to defeat after conceding a controversial late penalty.

The match kicked off with the visitors looking the better side as they attacked in numbers, putting the home side under pressure.

It was an end to end encounter as the opening half went on, with both sets of players accustomising well to the conditions.

On 15 minutes Caister's persistence paid off with them opening the scoring with a well-taken goal. They kept up the pressure looking to double their lead but the home defence held firm.

With five minutes remaining and the hosts getting to grips with their game Xavier Huckle got the all important equaliser with a header from right wing cross. This was just what the hosts needed before the break.

The second half got under way with the home team on the up as they launched continuous attacks and created really good chances to take the match away from the visitors.

The ever reliable Huckle squandered a couple of good opportunities which was very unusual for him. It looked as if Mattishall had got in front they would add more to make the scoreline more convincing, However, in the last minute, a controversial penalty kick was awarded to the visitors as a visiting forward appeared to go down easily and it was tucked away to give Caister a 2-1 win.

Mattishall Reserves travelled to Caister to entertain their Reserves and went down 4-3, after being 3-1 up and losing to a last-minute penalty decision. It might be that the players need to train harder as they played good football in the opening three quarters of the game before running out of steam.

On Saturday the first team entertain Beccles Town and the Reserves travel to Sprowston Athletic (both 2pm kick-offs).

Bradenham Wanderers consolidated fourth spot in the top flight when they recored a 5-2 away win at Stalham Town. George Watts-Sturrock (2), Tom Spalding, Lewis Fuller and Harry Exley were on target for Wanderers, with Stalham's goals both coming from Danny Camish.

Bradenham travel to Long Stratton, the side immediately below them in the table, on Saturday.

In Division One Hindringham, who were without a fixture at the weekend, are at home to Watton.
