Dereham Junior Runners held their first multi-event morning at Neatherd High School on August 2. The aim was to get the juniors used to competing at different events in their own age categories.

The weather was very characteristic of the conditions they need to get used to when they compete at events by luring them into a false sense of security by starting dry and then raining as hard as it could for the last hour of the competition.

Results: U11 Boys: 80m 1 Isaac King 13:50, 2 Ashley Jarvis 14:37, 3 Jono Abbott 15:68, 4 Bobby Copping 17:44. Shot (2kg) 1 Ashley Jarvis 5.74m, 2 Issac King 4.65m, 3 Jonno Abbott 3.85m, 4 Bobby Copping 2.87m. Long Jump 1 Ashley Jarvis 2.57m, 2 Isaac King 2.54m, 3 Bobby Copping 2.08m, 4 Jono Abbott 1.77m. Discus 1 Isaac King 11.65m, 2 Ashley Jarvis 10.97m, 3 Bobby Copping 9.60m 4 Jono Abbott 7.45m. 600m 1 Ashley Jarvis 2.20.02, 2 Isaac King 2.23.55, 3 Bobby Copping 2.38.99, 4 Jono Abbott 2.47.11.

U13 Girls: Becky Howard, 100m 15.79, shot 4.28m, long jump 2.64m, discus 7.97m.

U15 Boys: Jamie Abbott 100m 15:18, shot 5.35m, long Jump 2.64m, discus 9.80m and 800m 3.16.51.

The final East Anglian League meeting of the season for the juniors will be at Bury St Edmunds on Sunday, and the next multi-event morning will be held on Saturday, September 6 at Neatherd High School 10am till noon.

Both members and any non-members who would like to come are welcome. The juniors also meet from 6.30-8pm Mondays and Saturdays at Neatherd High School.
