Three teams battling it out for Barnes Print Central and South Norfolk League’s top title

With no fixtures in the Barnes Print Central and South Norfolk League over the Christmas period there’s a chance to review the season so far.

The league tables are deceptive given the wide discrepancies in the number of games played.

In terms of points dropped, the race for the League Championship appears to be between three teams, with Longham leading the way with a 100pc record from eight games. They are closely followed by Dereham Taverners and Watton Reserves, who have both only dropped three points each, and these three seem virtually uncatchable.

Division Two is much the same as the top division, although only two teams appear to be in contention for the two promotion places. Briston are unbeaten and have only dropped two points from a draw while Norwich Medics have dropped only five points. Hockering are the only other club in the Division who have dropped less than 10 points.

In terms of points dropped, Redgrave Rangers are clear favourites for the Division Three East title, given that they still have a 100pc record and are well clear of Briston Reserves and Wensum Albion in terms of the number of points dropped. The others in the chasing pack at this stage are Home Care United and Morley Village Reserves. They are closely followed by Bowthorpe Rovers, Longham Reserves and Taverham.

Things are much tighter in Division Three West. Best placed are Tugas United who have only suffered one league defeat this season and they are closely followed by Gressenhall who have dropped just five points. Immediately below these two are Hingham Athletic Reserves and AFC Weeting. These four teams are well clear of the rest of the division and are in real contention for honours.

The league still has interest in the Norfolk Primary Cup as the competition resumes at the quarter-finals stage on January 20.

Briston entertain AFC Walpole from the North-West Norfolk League while UEA make the trip west to take on Gayton United Reserves. Tugas United also have a long journey to meet Ellingham from the Lowestoft & District League.

A week earlier Brandon Town Reserves make the long trip to near Felixstowe to take on Trimley Sports & Social Club in the fourth round of the Suffolk Primary Cup.
