BRADENHAM Bears just failed in their bid to lift the Junior Carter Cup for the first time against Horsford.

In a low-scoring game at Manor Park on Sunday, Bradenham batted first and couldn't have got off to a worse start when in-form Lewis Denmark was adjudged lbw without playing a shot to only the second ball of the match.

Marcus Evans and Will Affleck steadied the ship for Bradenham before Evans was caught at mid on for a well made 28.

Affleck had made 30 when he was unluckily out backing up to a delivery which was driven back to the bowler who touched the ball onto the stumps. Brett Stolworthy contributed a superb 48 but other batsmen failed to make an impression and Bradenham were all out for 134.

This was always going to be a difficult score to defend but with an unpredictable bounce on a poor track at the County Ground, Bradenham were always in the hunt.

Two quick Horsford wickets certainly had the Bradenham tails up and it was nip and tuck all the way through the Horsford innings. Bradenham 'exile' Ryan Findlay was in great form for Horsford however with the bat and punished any loose bowling from the Bradenham bowlers.

He fell for an excellent 51 being bowled by Denmark and wickets began to tumble again.

However the total required has passed with seven wickets down with the Horsford number eight batsman making an excellent 34 runs to steer his team home with five overs to spare. For Bradenham, Stolworthy and Denmark picked up two wickets each.
