THE 2010 amateur boxing season is now under way at the Attleborough Community Gym at Loggers Gym in Leys Lane.

The gym is run by the Dereham and District Amateur Boxing Club who have been providing amateur boxing to the area since well before World War One and who have stabled numerous champion boxers, some of whom have gone on to have professional careers.

Training sessions are Tuesday and Thursday nights from 7 to 8.30pm and session fees will remain as last year at 1 for juniors and 2 for seniors.

There will be no membership fee for any newcomers who join before April and no annual subscription this year for current members.

The club provides two well-known trainers from Norwich, father and son team Martin and Marty, who have a wealth of experience and together with the other committee members and helpers are able to provide valuable one-to-one tuition.

Also this season the club will be bringing over from the Dereham gym experienced boxers for friendly in-club sparring sessions on a regular basis to provide the experience of mock bouts which is very valuable for lads who are competition boxing.

Boxers new or old, male or female, are welcome - and if anyone needs any further information they can contact club president Richard Sturman on 07887 520131.
