Bradenham Cricket Club held their annual dinner and prizegiving evening at the George Hotel, Swaffham on Friday evening.

Seventy guests heard chairman Tim Evans report on a mixed season for the club. Among the guests were club sponsors including Philip Morter of Bennetts (Dereham), Steve Clarke of Countrywide Legal Indemnities, Paul Littleproud of W C Littleproud & Son, Mel Howe of Birds of Dereham and Chris Tilley of Clayland Estates.

Evans commented that player unavailabilty and injuries at the outset had resulted in selection problems which ran on throughout the season. These problems were not helped by the dreadful weather during the summer which resullted in the first XI completing only just over half of their scheduled fixtures.

The second XI managed only a few more matches resulting in both teams being relegated. On a more positive note, the inaugural season for the club's third XI had been successful with many good performances.

Off the field, the club's ambitious new pavilion project is moving ahead. Details to allow for planning application are being finalised and two applications for grants have already been submitted.

Prize were: First XI player of the year – Alex Bates; Second XI player of the year – Zac Watts; Third XI player of the year – Stuart Cole; U17 player of the year – Jason Ward; U15 player of the year – Rory Saunders; U11 player of the year – Josh Rowe; Young player of the year – Will Dewing; Most improved player – Will Dewing; Club man of the year – Dave Caffyn.

The Club's AGM will be on Monday, November 12 at 7.30pm at Dereham Golf Club.
