BRADENHAM secured a winning draw at Sheringham in Alliance One Yet in another close-run match.

Sheringham won the toss and Bradenham were invited to bat. Evans and Matthews were asked to face the Sheringham pace attack who had deliveries popping and/or keeping a little low at regular intervals. Nevertheless, they put on 41 before Matthews was caught for eight.

Evans and Selowa progressed the score to 57 before Evans was disappointingly caught behind for 25. . Selowa played his full range of shots. At the other end, Denmark was adjudged lbw and Hunter was also quickly out lbw for nought.

Captain Blakey needed to steady the ship. He and Selowa took advantage of a short boundary on one side and took the score on well before the latter was out for 55. Blakey was bowled by Tuck also for a valuable 55, which left Dewing (15), Stolworthy (17) and Bates (15no) to contribute well to Bradenham's final total of 228 for 9.

Bradenham's Stolworthy soon had opener Spillett caught behind by Matthews for nought. The other opener Hudson and No 3 Smith then batted grittily to 45 before Hillier had Smith caught behind for 23.

Wright added 22 before Stolworthy scattered his stumps. Sheringham were 77 for four and Bradenham looked well in control. Hall, however, was looking to really force the pace. A series of bowling changes brought a couple of wickets with Moy and Spillett falling to sharp stumpings by Matthews off Hillier and Denmark respectively.

There was little respite from Hall however and with he and Lloyd playing some great attacking shots. Suddenly Sheringham were in with a chance of winning the game. The reintroduction of Hillier and his line and length bowling however proved crucial with Lloyd being trapped lbw for 16 for his third wicket.

The chase was then effectively over but Sheringham still finished on 213 for seven, with Hall ending on a great 97no.

Pick of the Bradenham bowlers was Hillier (3 for 32), Stolworthy (2 for 43) and Gates (1 for 27).

This was a good result for Bradenham who were nevertheless disappointed not to secure additional points.

They entertain table topping Sprowston on the Green on Saturday. All spectators, friends and family will be made most welcome.
