Bradenham Sunday travelled to Denver for a Derek Cousins League Division Two encounter.

Winning the toss, skipper Steve Matthews was quick to insert the home side on what looked to be a bowler-friendly wicket.

After a flurry of runs in the first two overs, Denver made steady yet unspectacular progress as opening bowlers Al Bates and Brett Stolworthy found their form.

Bates was first to strike as he had opener Vincent caught behind by keeper Will Affleck. Some useful shot making by G Pratt kept the score moving until he was dismissed by the same combination.

Doy and Brooking showed aggressive intent as they attempted to accelerate the run rate. Doy was clean bowled by Stolworthy only to be saved by a no ball call. The very next ball Stolworthy again upended his stumps and this time the umpire was not involved.

Shortly after the new batsman had taken his guard he too was on his way back to the pavilion as Affleck again took a chance that came his way.

Stolworthy's hat-trick ball narrowly missed the bat on its way through to Affleck.

The home side finished on 170-7 with Al Bates taking 3-25 off 10 overs.

The Bradenham reply began cautiously with openers Luke Findlay and Marcus Evans finding scoring difficult against some accurate bowling.

They put on 62 before Findlay fell attempting to increase the run rate. Lewis Denmark strode to the crease and from ball one his attacking intent was obvious and suddenly the scoreboard was moving rapidly as the ball crossed the rope at regular intervals, prompting home skipper Morton to reinforce his boundary every time Denmark was on strike.

Evans finally went for a hard fought 41 and despite the efforts of Demark the visitors fell short, eventually losing by seven runs.
