Bradenham simply ran out of steam at Norwich in the Norfolk Alliance Division One, losing by 22 runs.

With rain threatening, both captains agreed to play a 39 overs a side match in case the weather intervened at a later stage.

Bradenham won the toss and with the wicket already damp from some morning rain, had no hesitation in asking the home side to bat.

Brett Stolworthy bowled well and beat the outside edge of both openers' bats on numerous occasions with no luck. He was supported well by both Whyte and Bates, but Norwich had started to find their feet, with boundaries starting to come at regular intervals.

Greg Caffyn was introduced to the attack and had an immediate impact, clean bowling both Tipping and Jessop in his opening over. It could have been even better, as Hurford was dropped at the wicket in the same over.

This came back to haunt Caffyn as Hurford then started hitting the ball very sweetly, taking the same bowler for four successive fours an over or two later.

Ian Brown replaced Caffyn and he induced one big shot too many from the Aussie, having him well caught at mid-on by Lewis Denmark.

It was left to the experienced Livermore to guide his team to 207 for four at the end of the innings.

Bradenham's reply got off to a flyer, with Marcus Evans, making his first team league debut, and Rob Thurley taking full advantage, with 63 coming from the first 11 overs for no loss.

However, the introduction of leg spinner Hurford stopped Bradenham in their tracks, with Thurley being caught at fine leg sweeping and then both Evans and Whyte being trapped LBW by his well disguised googly.

Bradenham's run rate was starting to dip and the introduction of Fox slowed this further with his wily off spin. Matthews stayed firm, but with a win now becoming out of sight, the run chase was on to get extra points by reaching 187, this being 90 per cent of the first innings total.

Blakey struck three fours and a huge six, but with two required from the last ball, the Bradenham captain failed to make contact and Bradenham had to settle for eight points to Norwich's 17.
