MARTIAL ARTS: Dereham Brothers Liam Palmer 18, and Callum Palmer 12, added to their ever-growing collection of trophies, medals and titles at the Central Midlands Taekwondo Championships last weekend in Kettering.

Liam, who has won 64 trophies over the last few years at the regional, national and international level, was fighting in the men’s black belt lightweight sparring category.

He powered his way through the first few rounds, dropping only a single point. He went on to dominate the final against the competitor from Ely, winning the round with unanimous flags from all four judges to take the gold medal.

Liam, who is carrying a long-standing knee injury, also won gold in March to take the title of 2011 English Champion.

Callum, who has accumulated 18 trophies from regional, national and international events, began the day taking the bronze medal in the boys’ nedbelt patterns category.

He then battled through an incredible five rounds in the boy nedbelt lightweight sparring category to win the final round 5-1 and take the gold medal.

Both boys have been training hard for the North Midlands Regional Championships on Sunday, where Liam has taken the gold sparring medal and regional title for the last six consecutive years.
