Chopper Harris boosts Wanderers

BRADENHAM Wanderers Football Club held their end of season presentation night at Hale Road on Saturday night when Chelsea legend Ron 'Chopper' Harris was the special guest speaker.

Chairman Dale Brown kicked the evening off welcoming John Turner from the Crown Fire League to present the Division Four runners-up medals to the Reserve team and to Graham Jubb from the Dolphin Autos Anglian Combination to present the first team players with their medals and the George Hunt Cup for winning the Division Four championship.

Both had kind words to say about how well the club is run and to wish us success in the future, and both were thanked for attending.

Harris presented all the individual awards and thank you presents before giving everyone an insight to his career in football in the Sixties and Seventies, which was very much different to the modern game.

A question and answer session followed before Dale Brown returned to thank everyone for all the hard work, not just on a Saturday but throughout the year, especially for the car boot sales on a Wednesday.

Bouquets were presented to Jackie Brown and Eileen Frary, individual medals to all the linesmen and ground staff, and there were also medals for the 'young supporters' that attend every week - a growing sign that Bradenham is a family orientated club.

A special presentation was made to Dale and Jackie Brown and Ray and Eileen Frary from the players and management for all their hard work that sometimes goes unnoticed.

A hog roast was followed by an auction of football memorabilia which was supplied by Mr Harris, a fine collection of signed shirts and photos from yesteryear which was very popular with all the bidders.

The evening was rounded off with music from the Strobe 'O' Scania Disco.
