The decision to cover the pitch early on Saturday proved correct, as early morning rain only just cleared in time for the scheduled first ball of the Bradenham A-Saxlingham A match in Norfolk League Division Four which Bradenham won by 10 wickets.

On this form, Bradenham will be difficult to beat and this victory made up for the disappointment of the previous week's wash-out against Mattishall, when Bradenham were seemingly well placed for another well deserved victory when the rains came to curtail that match.

Bradenham won the toss and decided to bowl first on a green but fairly dry deck.

They soon had Saxlingham's experienced line-up in trouble, with star-man M English well caught at slip by skipper Ian Moody off the bowling of the ever improving young left-arm seamer Al Bates (1-4).

Steve Watts, who bowled superbly the previous week, continued where he left off and bowled R English and A Heslen.

Fox was introduced and immediately moved the ball across the bat and soon had Creasey well caught by keeper Ian Gibb. Fisher and Neave came and went and at this point overs outscored runs, with Saxlingham struggling to 23-6 off of 27 overs.

Moody came on to replace Watts, whose final figures of 12-10-7-3 were exceptional.

Moody bowled King and then Brooks and with the assistance of a run-out, left Saxlingham all out for 45.

Fox picked up 3-11 off 12 and Moody 2-10. Bradenham's bowling and fielding was once again excellent and whilst 21 extras helped Saxlingham, a combination of a wet ball the tricky surface can be largely attributable.

Young Marcus Evans and Ian Gibb then put Saxlingham to the sword to finish the game in just shy of 11 overs.

Ex-Norwich Wanderers man Gibb was particularly brutal, hitting two sixes and two fours in his 35 not out, and with Evans, put on the highest opening partnership of the campaign.

On a windswept Sunday afternoon, visitors Bradenham took to the field against Reepham & Salle and were quickly into their stride when one of the openers was dismissed without scoring in the second over when he played on to a Kyle Goodge delivery.

This only spurred the Reepham and Salle side on as they stepped up a gear and the runs began to flow as remaining opener Dave Henry produced an excellent display of batting to anchor the hosts' innings. He finally fell to the opening ball of skipper Steve Matthews first over for 91.

He was ably supported by P Harwood who contributed a valuable 57 before he also was removed by Matthews.

The home side finished on a daunting total of 234.

Bradenham needed a good start and this was provided by Matthews and Tianne Mostert who put on 73 for the first wicket before the former was caught for 34.

Mostert continued to punish any wayward deliveries until he was well caught by the home keeper for 61.

With 10 overs to go the visitors still required over 90 runs.

Some big hitting from Mike Taylor and an excellent innings from Goodge who batted superbly to hit a boundary, which not only won the game but also took him past his half-century.
