THIS week Fakenham, buoyed by a crucial 17-0 win over Woodbridge, get a break from league action when they visit Thetford.

With Ely relegated, Fakenham have found themselves fighting among a small group of clubs to avoid the other drop spot.

Fakenham took the game to Woodbridge and midway through the first period the pressure finally told when Ian Williamson scored one of the best team tries of the season.

The killer blow came midway through the half when winger Mark Allen pounced on a clever Warden chip kick to nip in behind the Woodbridge defence and score under the posts.

Tremendous scenes greeted the final whistle.

With games against Stowmarket and Ely remaining, Fakenham can finally see a glint of light at the end of the tunnel.

If they can remain focused then the end of this season may just bring an unexpected sense of success that seemed beyond them only a few weeks ago.
