Dereham Town went through the month of September unbeaten after dominating their derby against Wroxham at Trafford Park on Tuesday night and were worthy 2-0 winners, writes Rene Kendal.
With Rhys Logan prominent on the right they created numerous chances but it was not until the 39th minute that Ryan Crisp gave them the lead.
After receiving Luke Tuttle’s precise pass the striker skilfully dinked the ball over advancing keeper Elliott Pride.
The Magpies increased their advantage from the penalty spot in the 56th minute with Tuttle making no mistake after keeper Pride had upended Crisp as he looked to net.
Manager Matt Henman praised his side’s performance. “I thought that was the best we’ve played for a long while,” he said.
“We should have been more than one up at the break. To their credit they kept coming at us even when they were two down, and perhaps felt they should have pulled a goal back.”
In a fine team performance Henman gave a special mention to two of his players.
“Rhys Logan was superb tonight and Payton Swatman also had an excellent game.”
The Magpies rescued a point late on last Saturday thanks to Dion Frary’s strike in a 2-2 draw at Tilbury.
On Saturday the Magpies have an FA Trophy cup game with Waltham Abbey, who they beat 1-0 in the league two weeks ago, visiting Aldiss Park (3pm). Seb Bialasik and Matt Cook are on county duty, but Dan Morphew returns.
