Dereham athletes had a good day at the Norfolk Indoor County Championships at King's Lynn.

They came away with two golds and two silvers while a great number of personal best performances were achieved by four juniors involved.

U13 boy Ethan Barrett recorded 3.29m in the long jump, coming eighth overall and seventh in the county, and in shot putt he came seventh with a PB 3.77m.

In his 60m sprint heat he finished fourth in a time of 9.8 seconds which was another PB and a new club record for his age.

U15 girl Beth Barrett qualified for both the 60m and 60m hurdle finals. In the 60m she came second in her heat with 8.8 and fourth in the final in 9.0, which was a new club record. In the hurdles she was first in her heat with a PB of 10.4 and in the final she again ran 10.4 to finish in second placein a very close race.

In the U20 men's competition Nathan Protheroe came first in the 60m hurdles final with a time of 9.0 and in the last race of the day, the 60m sprint, he finished fourth place with a PB of 7.5.

Earlier in the day U11 boy Bradley Marsh ran in the 60m sprint with a PB time of 10.0 seeing him come third overall and second in the county. In the long jump he achieved a distance of 3.21m (PB) for first place to make it a good debut.

Both 60m sprint results for Beth and Nathan gave them a UK ranking along with Beth's 60m hurdles result which also gave her a qualifying time for the National Finals in Sheffield along with Nathan, who qualified earlier in January. Both athletes will next be competing in the Essex and Eastern Counties Indoor Championships at Lee Valley on February 3.
