Dereham turned another excellent all-round performance on Saturday to record a sixth successive win in Division One of the Cecil Amey Opticians Norfolk Alliance.

After opening their campaign with a couple of defeats Duncan Hewitt's side are now second in the table, 26 points behind leaders Diss with a game in hand.

Hewitt made 113 and Jonny Bidewell 54 as Dereham reached an impressive 273-7 in their 50 overs against Lowestoft, who have been showing some decent form of late.

Hewitt hit 15 fours and one six in a 150-ball knock while Bidewell hit seven fours and two sixes in a 55-ball effort.

Eight visiting players had a go with the ball, with Alex Haverson impressing with 1-16 from his 10 overs and Tom Brice weighing in with 2-40.

Dereham's total proved to be more than enough, with the visitors being dismissed for 171 in reply. After being 59-6 they did well to get up to that respectable total, with Craig Guy (44) and Jordan Neasmith (42 not out) providing some late impetus.

Jake Anema was the most successful Dereham bowler, taking 4-34, while George Pledger took 2-38 and David Lake 2-40.

Diss went marching on at the top as they saw off Norwich A by five wickets while closest morning rivals Swardeston A were suffering a surprise defeat at bottom side Mattishall.

Martin Greiller and Tom Goodley both made half centuries in Norwich's total of 221-9 which was chased down with some ease by Diss thanks in no small part to an excellent 95 from David Tooke.

Swardeston got up to 231 against Mattishall, with Norfolk player Matthew Taylor making 81, but again it wasn't enough as Ryan Hawkins (78) and Jason Cole (66 not out) starred in an impressive run chase that saw the home side finish on 234-6 in the 42nd over.

Swardeston are the next opponents for Dereham, who travel to The Common on Saturday.

Mattishall, who moved off the bottom of the table as a result of their second win, will be aiming to prove it's not a flash in the pain when they travel to a Thetford side who are on a poor run after making an excellent start. Both games get start at 1pm.
