Dereham CC is also looking for support from local businesses.

A board at the ground costs £100 for the season if they make it themselves. Advertising in the fixture handbook costs £50.

Anyone wanting information on playing or supporting the club can contact chairman Neil Irons on 07748 302551.

Meanwhile, the club's darts team - solely made up of cricketers - gained promotion to the top division of their league after only two years of playing together.

“The first three darts thrown way back completely missed the scoring numbers, and look what we have achieved in such a short space of time!” said captain and Dereham CC stalwart Gary Starling.

“We got together hoping to raise funds for the club, which has now paid dividends. The lads are now planning a timely celebration by all players entering the UK Open qualifying rounds held in Norwich.”
