On a very wet and windy Sunday, the Dereham men's team played away in the second round of the Mail on Sunday competition to Royal Cromer and the ladies Daily Mail Foursomes pair played their first round match away at Hunstanton.
The men had a successful day, beating Royal Cromer 3-2. The results were: Richard Wilson won 6&4, Simon Chaney won 1 up, Will Cross won 4&2, Alex Bates lost 5&3, Ryan Thorogood lost 7&5.
This was a great result for the club as it is the first time they have progressed to the third round for many years.
Unfortunately the ladies, Heather Clements and Julie Bray, did not have such a good day. While receiving five shots they lost their match 4&2 but in spite of the poor conditions had an enjoyable game. Considering that the pair were not the winners of Dereham's qualifying competition, the Autumn Foursomes, they put up a good fight.
