Dereham’s men’s team were relegated from the Premier A of the East League on Saturday after a six-year stay in the top division.

They went into their re-arranged final fixture against Ipswich at Greenfields Road needing a victory to move out of the bottom two - but ended up losing the must-win game 5-3.

Dereham found themselves 2-1 down at half-time after conceding from a penalty flick and a short corner before replying with a short corner conversion from midfielder Ed Turner.

The hosts equalised early in the second half after forward Will Dewing won a penalty flick, which was calmly converted by CJ Edwards. Dewing was involved again as Dereham took the lead, deflecting the ball into the roof of the net.

Ipswich equalised not long after and scored two more goals as Dereham pushed for the win. Dereham will now look to rebuild in Premier B next season, with youngsters likely to get their chance.
