Dereham Otters' Lauren Burton revelled in her taste of the big time recently.

The 13-year-old qualified for the 50m freestyle event at the British Gas Swimming Championships held at the London Aquatic Centre. The event was used as the trials for the Great Britain squad for this summer's Olympics and Burton warmed up alongside the likes of world record holder Liam Tancock, Gemma Spofforth and Fran Halsall.

She swam her event on the Friday morning in a personal best time of 28.45 seconds before watching the finals during the evening, where Rebecca Adlington qualified in the 800m.

It was the first time that an Otters swimmer had qualified for a national level competition.
