The Norfolk Sportshall League County Championships took place at the UEA Sportspark, with seven Dereham Runners Juniors taking part.

Erin McNulty competed in the U11 Girls category, with Tom Mackay, Angus Aberdein, Archie Wakefield and Purvik Bhatt in the U11 Boys. Aberdein came away with one gold and one bronze medal, with Mackay winning a silver.

Freya Biles was the sole U13 girl and she had a brilliant day to finish with three county gold medals. Ashley Jarvis completed the team in the U15 boys category and he also performed excellently to win one silver and one bronze medal on the day.

Mackay and Aberdein are due to represent Norfolk in the forthcoming U11 Fun in Athletics Challenge, and both Biles and Jarvis have been chosen to represent their county at the U13/U15 Regional Finals on February 2.

Dereham Runners Juniors meet Monday and Thursday evenings at Dereham Neatherd High School for a mixture of indoor and outdoor training from 6.30pm to 8pm.

n The fourth race in the Ryston Runners Cross Country series was held on Sunday, with Andy Norton the only senior man taking part from Dereham Runners.

For the ladies Hazel Cason gained a third in her vet class. Two juniors took part in the under-nines. Memphis Symonds was fourth in a very competitive field of 28 with her younger sister Ellen also participating.
