Dereham Town manager Matt Henman is busy preparing his side for a trip to non-league giants Boston United in the FA Cup second qualifying round this weekend, writes Ed Colman.

And the Magpies boss feels it's going to be an extra special day for everyone connected with his Ryman Division One North club – who play two levels below the Conference North Pilgrims.

He said: 'Every day and every match is a proud moment to manage the team but to be in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup and to be going somewhere with the tradition that Boston United have is going to make it extra special and I am really looking forward to it and can't wait till kick-off.

'It is going to a tough game for us, we are under no illusions, they are the biggest side we have played against. It is a first for the club and we need to go there and enjoy it - but we enjoy it by going to Boston, working hard and trying our hardest to try and cause an upset.'

The Magpies travel to Lincolnshire in high spirits having picked up their first away points of the season with a 2-0 win at AFC Sudbury on Tuesday night.

Luke Tuttle smashed home an early penalty before Sam Borrer grabbed a late second.

It was the perfect response to Saturday's 6-3 loss at Harlow Town, which saw Ryan Hawkins, Tuttle (2) find the net.

Henman said: 'It was an important win on Tuesday night, as our away form had not been where we wanted it be so far this season.

'But our two centre-halves were outstanding all night and we showed great resilience as a team and we know that we are going to have to dig deep and do it all again on Saturday.

'We know we are probably going to have to do a lot of defending on Saturday and possibly give up a lot of the ball, so it is important that when we do get the ball we keep it a bit better than we did on Tuesday night and take our chances when they come.

'It is going to be a brilliant day for us as a club. Matt Hockley is the only one of our squad who has probably experienced anything like the atmosphere at Boston on a regular basis, so he will be a big part of the team for us on Saturday both in the changing room and on the pitch.

'But it will also be a big day for our younger lads and one that I think they are more than capable of contending with.'

Progress from the second qualifying round of the competition will net the winner £4,500 prize money. If the scores are level after 90 minutes, it will go to extra time. If the deadlock is still not broken the two teams will try again on Tuesday evening.

Dereham – who are scheduled to visit Ware in the league on Tuesday as it stands – have needed replays, and penalties, to see off St Ives and St Neots in this year's competition so far.
