ON Sunday, August 10 Dereham Runners Juniors had two entries in the Great Yarmouth Open Trophy meeting. U15 Laura Smithson in her first competition achieved two gold medals with a jump of 1.

ON Sunday, August 10 Dereham Runners Juniors had two entries in the Great Yarmouth Open Trophy meeting. U15 Laura Smithson in her first competition achieved two gold medals with a jump of 1.35m in the high jump and a pb and a throw of over 17m in the discus and U11 Isaac King finished third in his 80m heat with a time of 13.2 a seasons best and finished seventh in the final, 600m 2:29.7 and long jump 2.71m.

On Sunday, August 17 the juniors travelled to Bury St Edmonds for the final East Anglian meeting of the season where the team finished fourth overall with several seasons best achieved by all.

U15 Girls Laura Smithson came first in high jump 1.35m, 3rd in discus 18.05m (season best) and fourth in shot 7.60m (season best) she also ran the four by 100m relay. U13 Boys William Moore 2nd in shot 7.74m (season best), 100m 15.4 and 200m 32.3 (season best). U11 Girls Octavia Campbell 80m 15.2, 600m 2:54.5 (season best) and long jump 1.59m. U11 Boys Isaac King 80m 13.5, 600m 2:17.7 (season best) and long jump 2.62m. Senior Men Andy Norton shot 8.10m (season best) and 3,000m 12:53.0 (season best).

The juniors will now start training for their Sports Hall League which commences on October 4.
