After securing promotion to the East Premiership with a stylish 7-0 victory over St Ives, Dereham focused their attention on a tough visit from mid-table side Braintree and set a new goal for themselves - to remain unbeaten all season.

Dereham got off to a flying start and it looked as if another rout was on the cards when Evie Van Poortvliet opened the scoring with a fabulous solo effort after just two minutes. This was followed quickly by a second from Hannah Palmer.

From this point, Braintree played a very defensive game, which made it difficult for Dereham to get into their area. A few chances came and went - Palmer was unlucky to hit the post and Van Poortvliet saw a couple of shots pass by the wrong side of the post.

The second half saw the visitors press the champions into their own half a little more and earn themselves a few short corners. The Dereham defenders, led by stand-in keeper Sam Skelton, dealt with the pressure calmly and never really looked like conceding. Dereham wrapped the game up when an error at the back saw Braintree concede an own goal to settle it at 3-0. They take their unbeaten squad to bottom side Lincoln this weekend.
