DEREHAM gained their 14th win of the season and kept a third consecutive clean sheet to move 15 points clear at the top of the NE14 Hockey East Women's League Division 1N.

The visitors were lucky to escape with only two goals against them, especially after Dereham's 7-0 thrashing of Colchester the previous week. If Dereham had put away all of their chances, then the scoreline may have exceeded seven.

Watton worked hard to keep the league leaders at bay, achieving this mostly through breaking down the play, which frustrated the home side and the umpires, who were rather card-happy.

Dereham finally broke the deadlock through a Donna Causton short corner. It was Causton who set up the home side's second goal too, finding Evie Van Poortvliet, who wrapped up the game.

Despite the score line, Watton never really threatened the Dereham goal and their two chances didn't even force a save from the keeper.

Table-topping Dereham take their league campaign to Peterborough at the weekend.
