Only one first division team made it through to the semi-finals of the Ben Smith Memorial Cup, the league's premier cup competition - that was Saham Toney, the current league leaders, who beat Rockland United 6-1 away.

In the semi-finals they will entertain second division Morley Village Reserves who won their local derby with Wymondham Town A by the odd goal of five.

The fourth division leaders, Hethersett Athletic notched up another notable result with a 6-0 home victory over former cup holders North Elmham, and Foulsham Reserves from Division Three can also be pleased with their 4-3 win at Dereham Town A which earns them a trip to Hethersett in the last four.

There were just two matches in Division One but the results from those could have a big say in the destination of final honours this season. Former leaders, Thetford Athletic, crashed to their second consecutive 1-0 defeat, this time at the hands of Bridgham United while Mulbarton Wanderers in third place won by the odd goal of three at East Harling Reserves. This puts Mulbarton in pole position in terms of points dropped but they will need to win their games in hand to catch the two leaders, Saham Toney and Thetford Athletic.

Division Two leaders Attleborough Town A increased their lead to five points with a 5-2 home win over Hingham Athletic Reserves while fourth-placed Cockers won 2-0 at Watton United A.

Swaffham Town A booked the first place in the final of the Chequered Flag Primary League Cup by beating Saham Toney Reserves 3-2 after extra-time. They will meet Tacolneston or Wymondham Town A in the final.

It was a good day for the leading clubs in Division Three. West End are the new leaders after their 2-0 win at Gressenhall Reserves while Bawdeswell stay third following their 2-1 win at Sporle. Shropham United are fourth after a 6-0 home win over Great Cressingham and Bradenham Wanderers Reserves have moved up to fifth spot after beating Rockland United Reserves by the only goal of the game.

There was just one match in Division Four which ended in a 7-2 home win for Castle Acre Swifts over Methwold Rovers.

In a long outstanding first round match in the Ambulance Cup, Swanton Morley beat Shropham United Reserves 3-1 after extra-time and will now play Castle Acre Swifts in the next round.

In second round matches, results went pretty much to league status with two exceptions. Fourth division Beetley came twice from behind to beat Shipdham Reserves 3-2 with a late goal and Thetford Rovers Reserves from Division Three knocked out Bunwell with a 6-4 away win. In the three other matches, there were victories for the three first division clubs - Hingham Athletic beat Dickleburgh by the odd goal of three, Shipdham defeated Wendling by the only goal of the game and Yaxham ran out 4-0 home winners over Tacolneston.

The opening matches in the group stage of the Fen Regis Invitation Shield were played on Saturday. In Group A, Splitz United got off to a winning start with a 3-2 success at Fakenham Town A while Gressenhall won 4-1 at Colkirk in Group B. In Group C, honours were even from a goalless draw between Breckland Wanderers and Northwold SSC while Toftwood Rangers beat Necton Reserves 3-1 in Group D.
