Dereham Town have been handed a home draw in the quarter-finals of the FA Vase if they can win their re-arranged fifth round tie on Saturday.

The Magpies would entertain Chalfont St Peter or Christchurch if they win at Needham Market.

Last year's finalists Lowestoft would play Bideford - the only side definitely through to the last eight - if they can see off Hungerford.

Both Dereham and the Blues' ties fell foul to the weather at the weekend. The quarter finals are due to be on Saturday, February 28.

Dereham boss Matt Henman said the prospect of a home draw was a “massive, massive incentive” for the Magpies.

“It is a decent draw, and the first thing is we would be at home. We do not want to get carried away as we are not through, but the prospect of a home draw is a huge plus.”

Christchurch are currently eighth in the Wessex League - the same division as Wimbourne, who were beaten by Larkhall and who Dereham then defeated in the fourth round.

Chalfont St Peter are eighth in the Spartans South Midlands League - which is also in the fifth tier of the football pyramid.

Meanwhile, Dereham's Norfolk Senior Cup semi-final tie against Wroxham on Tuesday night was postponed and is now due to be played on Tuesday, February 17.

Henman said the Aldiss Park pitch was “as heavy as I have ever seen it.”

One of the goalscorers who helped Dereham reach the fifth round of the FA Vase will now miss Saturday's match.

Paul Atkins scored the second of the Magpies' four goals as they beat Larkhall 4-2 in the previous round but got a second yellow card for over-celebrating in front of the travelling fans.

The suspension for the red card takes affect from Saturday, meaning he will miss out on the re-arranged match at Needham.

A supporters' coach for Dereham fans going to Needham Market is leaving Aldiss Park on Saturday at 12.45pm. Seats are £6 (£4 for those who went to Larkhall in the last round). Contact 01362 690460 for bookings.

The club has started a new list, so if supporters need a seat they have to book it.
