DEREHAM, clear in third pace, moved nearer to the Rigeons Premier leaders on Saturday.

Craig Terrington and Graham Barrett were both missing from the Dereham line-up as they looked to continue their impressive league form at the Royal Oak, writes Rene Kendal.

In the second minute the Magpies won a free-kick on the right after Ollie Willis was fouled. Garner's centre sped past the far post and out of play.

Dereham had all the play in the opening stages and in the 10th minute Howell side-footed wide from five yards after Beaumont presented him with a chance on a plate. Striker Beaumont curled a 25-yard free-kick narrowly wide with keeper Wootten stranded. Harwich were seeing little of the ball but Eastoe-Smith had to head back to Higgs as Page looked to pounce.

The Willis brothers combined well down the right with another cross fizzing across the home box without a finishing touch.

In the 30th minute Carmichael went down when challenged by Eastoe-Smith following Brannon's delivery from the right but the referee waved aside the home side's appeals.

Harwich won a free-kick 30 yards out with Harris' effort deflected behind and the resultant corner being cleared.

Play switched ends and the Magpies also gained a free-kick just outside the box. Danny Beaumont curled a perfect drive into the bottom left-hand corner of the net to open the scoring in the38th minute.

Home keeper Wootten and defender Peacock both failed to intercept, Beaumont's cross from the left but the ball flew to safety.

Dereham increased their lead in the 44th minute with Ben Furlong firmly heading home Ollie Willis' cross from the right bye-line.

Half-time: Harwich and Parkeston 0, Dereham 2.

Dereham soon netted a third minutes after the re-start with a superb strike. Bacon's cross from the left fell to Adam Smith 12 yards out who side-stepped his man before hammering home a powerful left-footer into the roof of the net.

It was mostly one-way traffic with Bacon pulling the ball back to Sam Willis, who scuffed his shot wide. Minutes later Howell miscued from the edge of the box before Bacon side-footed into keeper Wotten's arms after good approach play by substitute Atkins.

In the 70th minute Ollie Willis progressed to deep in the home box but his low cross failed to pick out the unmarked Atkins.

The Essex side forced Higgs into action in the 75th minute with the keeper comfortably claiming Page's flicked header following Taylor's long throw from the right.

Dereham added to their tally in the 81st minute with classy defender Daniel Buhlemann stabbing home Garner's corner from the right at the far post.

The Magpies dominated the match and returned home convincing winners.
