Magpies make use of extra time

Although the post-ponement of Dereham's home game against league-leaders CRC on Saturday, due to a waterlogged pitch, was frustrating, it did give players some valuable time on the training pitch, with both the U18 squad and the first-team squad benefitting from extra coaching and discussion about their roles in the different systems and formations which the manager employs.

Afterwards, I and the assistant manager took the opportunity to go and watch the second half of a Ridgeon's First Division game and run the rule over a player which the club may be interested in.

So what could have been a frustrating day turned out be very useful and enjoyable.

The good news was that Dereham A, as well as winning 3-0, had performed well against a good Shipdham side to stay at the top of their league.

Dereham are at home to Hadleigh on Saturday and hope to put a few smiles on the faces of their supporters - something that they haven't been able to do in recent weeks.
