Dereham Town made it four league wins on the trot with an outstanding second-half performance at Wisbech to win 6-2 on Saturday in the last league game on the famous Fenland Park turf before the Fenmen's move.

The Magpies are on the road for their next two Ridgeons Premier games, at CRC on Saturday and Norwich United on Tuesday night.

Wisbech Town 2, Dereham Town 6

Dereham were unchanged from the team that defeated Tiptree with ex-Wisbech player Paul Cousins captaining the side, writes René Kendal

Wisbech nearly made a dream start when Impey struck a superb low 22-yard drive which cannoned off John Higg's left-hand post and back into play.

On a perfect afternoon both sides passed and moved in a bid to create openings in the first 15 minutes but defences remained on top.

From a free-kick 25 yards out Craig Terrington saw his sweet left-foot shot whistle past an upright.

In the 19th minute the Fenmen won possession in midfield when Cobb sliced a forward pass to Scott Cubberley just outside the box on the left. The forward took two touches before thumping an 18-yarder into the top corner to give Wisbech the lead.

Dereham responded with Terrington curling another free-kick narrowly wide. Olly Willis diverted a dangerous centre for a Wisbech corner from which Dererham keeper Higgs made a smart close-range save. Shortly before half-time, Olly Willis ballooned a shot over the bar.

Dereham wasted little time in finding the equaliser at the start of the second half. Midfielder Hunt charged down an attempted clearance, the ball reaching Nicky Howell inside the box. He turned inside before firing home a 14-yard left-foot effort.

Jay Eastoe-Smith glanced a header wide from Terrington's corner as the Magpies looked rejuvenated following manager Matty Henman's pep talk.

The Fenmen then nearly regained the lead when Cobb delivered a quality cross from the right with Impey unable to stab the ball home at the far post.

In the 62nd minute Garner switched play with a super crossfield ball to Ollie Willis who rolled the ball to brother Sam Willis, who bundled over. From the spot Danny Beaumont coolly sent keeper Horton the wrong way to put the Magpies in front.

In a quick break Hunt chipped a brilliant ball forward to Howell who raced forward, rounding the keeper before slotting home.

Dereham were now in control and won a corner on the right. Terrington's near post centre reached Jason Hunt near the six-yard line who forced home Derham's fourth goal.

Dereham soon registered their nap hand when Hunt robbed defender Reeve and went forward before beating Horton with a measured right-foot effort that flew into the top corner in the 83rd minute.

Substitute Mowbray found space down the right to deliver a low cross that reached Terrington at the far post, who crashed home from close range to score No 6 in the 86th minute.

Wisbech scored a consolation goal on time when Cubberley's half-hit shot from the edge of the area found its way into the net after a slip from keeper Higgs.
