The Magpies must beware of their high-flying Anglian Combination Premier Division hosts. The Shannocks are third in the chase for the Sterry Cup but are smarting from a Friday night 2-1 league defeat by Mattishall. With trophy options running out, a Carrow Road final is a fine incentive for Dereham.

Newport Pagnell Town 3, Dereham Town 1

THE Magpies had started well against the United Counties League Premier outfit. Dereham dominated the first half-hour with Danny Beaumont opening the scoring on four minutes, firing home from the edge of the box after a superb run by Ollie Willis.

But Newport headed an equaliser before adding another close-range goal to lead at half-time. In the second half Dereham could not reproduce the flowing football of the first period and Newport sealed victory with a third goal.

As part of their 125th anniversary celebrations Dereham Town Football Club is holding a players' re-union on Saturday, November 28 during the Felixstowe match. All former players are invited, meeting at Aldiss Park from 2pm.
