The Magpies, tipped to push for honours after last season's success, suffered a 1-0 defeat away to Histon Reserves at the weekend following their 3-1 home league defeat by Wroxham. That left them mid-table in the Ridgeons Premier Division, already 11 points adrift of the leaders.

However, manager Matt Henman was in determined mood this week ahead of Saturday's visit to third-placed Stanway Rovers, which he anticipated would be a tough trip, and Tuesday's game at Wisbech.

“There is no panic, we will continue working very hard and I am confident we will put things right,” he said, admitting that the Magpies' current form was difficult to understand despite their efforts to get into their stride.

“We have had quite an unsettled start with injuries to key players. We have found it difficult to put a settled side out each week.

“But we have a good squad and the players we put out should be well capable of beating the sides we have played in the last few weeks.”
