SECOND in the table Union capitalised on relegation huanted Mattishall's below-par performance.

Within a minute Mattishall should have scored from a one-on-one situation, but the effort was saved.

Midway through the half Union took the lead with an easy tap-in past the keeper and defender, who were not on the same wavelength.

Mattishall rallied and forced a corner kick which was cleared for was Mattishall felt was another flag-kick but the referee awarded a goal kick from which Union scored their second. One bounce and quick thinking from their striker saw the ball in the net for the killer second.

In the second period Mattishall tried hard but could not penetrate a resilient home defence.

Six matches left to play and a lot to do if Mattishall are to survive to stay in the Dolphin Autos Anglian Combination Premier Division.

It's all down to the current squad to make sure this happens especially having to play away to struggling Beccles Town next (ko 2.30pm, meet 12.30.).

The club have re-emphasised the need for a first team manager to take the helm for the remaining matches and for the forthcoming season in this very competitive league.

Any potential personnel should contact chairman Ken Winn on 01362 692189.
