IN the Norfolk Junior Cup second round, Mattishall made a very fast start with Harbour on the right wing causing all sort of problems, his early cross-shot striking the far post before bouncing to safety.

Another dangerous run and cross this time saw a stooping header by Hill give the hosts a deserved lead. A force-full exchange of tackles saw Hewitt feed Campos whose deft lob beat the keeper increased the lead.

Hewitt again fed Harbour on the right and his drive was blocked for a corner from which Palmer's delivery fell to Harbour. His shot rebounded to Campos, who forced the ball into the net to give impressive Mattishall what looked an unassailable 3-0 lead.

The visitors, who had seen hardly any possession, took off their bewildered full-back Barrett, replacing him with the old war horse Alcott. This seemed to inspire the visitors and they reduced the arrears when Hornigold got the better of Dougal before firing home.

Mattishall continued to create chances and a stinging cross by Harbour into the box caused a goalmouth scramble and Hill just failed to connect with the rebound.

In the second half a free-kick by Hewitt found Anema at the back post but his effort went wide. The visitors started to get some possession. Raspberry headed over, Smith brought a good save from the home keeper and Alcott headed over.

In their next attack Pott Row reduced the arrears as another good cross again found the dangerous Alcott, who made no mistake.

Mattishall restored there two-goal advantage when Harbour whipped in a good ball and Hewitt hit a crisp volley into the top of the net.

The game appeared to completely change on a refereeing decision when a

Pott Row player received a yellow card where Mattishall expected red.

Again some slack defending allowed Pott Row a goal as they forced the ball into the net after a goalmouth melée.

The long, diagonal ball was causing Mattishall problems and it was from one of these that Bunting was the first to react, lobbing the advancing home keeper for the equaliser.

With five minutes remaining the visitors amazingly took the lead when another diagonal ball found Bunting again and he rounded keeper Bottomley, who brought him down and in doing so was injured.

Hewitt took over between the posts but was given no chance with the excellent spot-kick.

Mattishall first team lost 2-0 at Beccles, conceding both goals in the opening 15 minutes.
