On top of that, the chairman received news that the whole reserve ide's management team had resigned their posts prior to the match on Saturday. This followed first team resignations midway through the campaign in what is considered one of the worst seasons in the club's history.

The club's annual meeting has been arranged for Wednesday, June 4 at 7.30pm at Mattishall Sports and Social Club. Everyone has been urged to attend to voice their opinions for the forthcoming season and to meet the new first team manager.

Mattishall Reserves 2, CEYMS 3

AGAINST the section leaders last Thursday, Mattishall were very unlucky to lose.

Mattishall were very slow to start and gifted their opponents two early goals. However, they ended the half on top, with Jason Knights hitting home a cracking goal to give relegation-threatened Mattishall a life-line.

The same player almost hit a second prior to the break, his looping header narrowly wide of the mark. It was a shame to hear the half-time whistle as the visitors were flagging slightly.

Within 10 minutes of the start of the second half Mattishall were level as Knights hit his second goal. Mattishall had their tails up and were creating all sorts of problems for the league leaders right up to the last five minutes.

Then a harmless-looking ball was sent into the Mattishall box, where a deft flick from a CEYMS forward diverted it into the net. This was a cruel blow for the team as they certainly deserved a point from this very entertaining match. The visitors won the division from this encounter.

Mattishall Reserves 1, Thetford Rovers 1

THIS disappointing match severely dented Mattishall hopes of staying up. They had a good start, going a goal up, but conceded two sloppy goals.
