A strong team did not perform on the day and were punished by good Mattishall goals.
The pitch was inspected and passed fit to play this Anglian Combination Premier fixture with points vital for Mattishall to climb away from the bottom reaches of the league table. With an almost settled team and on the back of a good away win in the Mummery Cup, Mattishall started in a positive mood.

The half was ending in a midfield tussle, however, Jason Cole made a darting run into the Wroxham half, his fine cross setting up chances to increase the one goal lead which were not taken.
Wroxham started the second period with two good chances from corner kicks, however Mattishall went further ahead from a rare mistake from the Wroxham keeper. It allowed Cole to prod home from close range, showing his prowess in the danger area at picking up any loose ball and creating scoring opportunities.
Simon Wooden had clear chances from good balls sent to him from the hard-working home midfield players.
On 65 minutes a long clearance found Wooden who flicked on, finding the dangerous Ben Lewis. He ran with the ball down the right flank and unleashed a powerful shot into the net.
This goal rewarded his workrate throughout the match. The visitors had no reply to the show that Mattishall were putting on and the winning margin would have been more but for poor finishing and good goalkeeping.
A lapse in the Mattishall box in the final minute gave the visitors their consolation goal from a simple header.
The Reserves travelled to Spixworth Reserves and went down by 3-1.
On Saturday, Mattishall travel to Brandon Town (ko 2pm), the Reserves entertain Thorpe Rovers (2pm).
