Dereham Town boss Matt Henman is already building for next season after equalling the club's highest ever league finish and best FA Vase run.

All of last season's squad has re-signed and Henman hopes to add some extra faces to the squad.

In finishing fourth in the Ridgeons Premier Division the Magpies were Norfolk's highest-ranked team in the league and set out their stall for honours in the coming seasons.

Henman said: “All of the squad came in on Tuesday night for a chat about the season, how we felt it had gone, where things went well and where we need to improve next season in order to make the next step and contend for the league.

“Every player expressed a real desire to commit to the club, having developed a real spirit over the last year or so as well as a strong bond with each other. The squad is of an age where you know they can improve, and having added some needed experience during the season and developed some mental strength and belief along the way, we really believe we can continue the improvement together,” he said.

The players whose contracts were up for renewal have all signed new ones which also have an option included for the club to extend for a further year.

Chairman Simon Barnes said: “The continuity and solid foundation that this brings puts the Magpies in a strong position to attract other players to improve the squad as the management sees fit.”

Henman added: “It is a nice position to be in to know that we have a great group of players already in place for next season and we can now be patient in adding maybe two or three more with the right abilities and personalities.

“The spirit in the club is superb and we need to bring the sort of player in who will compliment that and make us better. Whilst we are happy to have had a good finish in the league to put along side the best ever FA Vase run, we now have a club and squad that should expect to win things and that will be our aim next season.”

Pre-season training begins with a training weekend on June 27/28 at Aldiss Park.
