MIKE Baldry, the chairman of Dereham Town FC, is delighted with the activities on and off the pitch at Aldiss Park.
In the last few weeks Hull City and the Romanian U21 squad have trained at Aldiss Park and enjoyed the club’s hospitality.
Everyone was impressed with the set-up and facilities, thanks to Ginny and her staff for all their hard work and Alan, the groundsman, who has got the pitch in top condition.
At the Romanian training day, the club welcomed students and staff from the Dereham Day Centre, who watched the team work out.
Things are going well for the teams, with the first team sitting on top of the league for the third week running, five points clear and with games in hand.
Well done to the boys, who are playing some super football. The whole squad is very fit and organised, due to the efforts of manager Matty Henman and his training and coaching staff.
The Reserves and A teams are both going well and playing some excellent football.
Last weekend all three teams won their matches, scoring 16 goals between them and only conceding two. The U18 squad are playing attractive football and doing well for such a young team.
Thanks to the managers and helpers and good luck to the ladies’ teams and all the youth teams.
Aldiss Park also boasts successful bowls and netball teams.
Thanks go to the hard-working committee, sponsors and ladies in hospitality, without whom the club would not be able to function.
The club is lucky to have many supporters who turn up every week, home and away, which is much appreciated.
However, the number of supporters for home games has been disappointing, especially as the first team is top of the league and playing the best football ever seen at Aldiss Park.
a plea has gone out for more fans to make an effort to support the teams, as the players always respond to the cheers from home supporters.
