Runners tackle half marathon
TWO Dereham Runners competed in the third and last race in the Wroxham 5k series organised by Norwich Road Runners. Consolidating his excellent season, Sean Atterwill finished in overall fifth position and seconnd in the junior men in a personal best of 17:28.

Consolidating his excellent season, Sean Atterwill finished in overall fifth position and second in the junior men in a personal best of 17:28. Steve Gilbert was the only other Dereham Runner and he finished in 23:00 having competed in all three races.
On Sunday, seven Dereham Runners took part in the Wissey Half Marathon, organised by Ryston Runners over a one-lap circuit starting and finishing by the gates of Oxbrough Hall.
Traditionally the weather over the last few years has been sunny, dry and hot. The morning of the race started with heavy rain and grey skies. Surprisingly most runners started and finished in the dry, warm conditions. Neville Knights was the first to finish in 30th place 1-28:53, follow by Rory Campbell 1-42:47, Paul Metters 1-43:06, John Richardson in his 75th half marathon 1-52:57, Ken Renshaw 1-54:26, Gill Woodhouse 1-56:18 and Di Renshaw 2-23:12.

Dereham Junior Runners had a busy Saturday with their final multi-event morning of the track and field season at Neatherd High School. There were nine juniors competing, with several achieving PBs.
They were also given waterproof jackets from their sponsor Konect Bus Ltd to whom they are grateful for their continued support.

U13 Girls: Becky Howard 100m 17.2, 800m 3:53.4, long jump 2.51m and shot 4.45m. U13 Boys: William Moore 100m 15.9, 800m 3:45.3, long jump 3.77m (PB and SB), shot 6.68m; Luke Copping 100m 16.2, 800m 3:19.8, long jump 3.44m and shot 5.33m (PB).
