DEREHAM Ladies went to the top of the NE14 Hockey East Women's League Premier Division on goal difference with this thumping win at Thurrock on Saturday.

After a long journey Dereham showed superb skill in front of the goal with incisive play.

Hannah Palmer hit a post and Evie Gardner scored off the rebound. Thurrock disputed the goal but after an umpires' conference the goal was given.

Palmer scored the second with an instinctive shot that found the back of the net. By half-time Evie Gardner and Palmer had made the score 4-0.

Dereham scored early in the second half through quick passing and Donna Vaughn added the sixth and final goal.
