Bradenham Wanderers 2, Poringland Wanderers 0

Bradenham secured third position in their first season back in Division One of the Anglian Combination, an achievement that few would have thought likely at the beginning of the season. And the reserve side won the championship of their section.

After just five minutes Bush tried a cross-come-shot which the visitors' keeper just managed to turn over. The Poringland No 9 then shot just wide from the edge of the box.

Some good work by Hancy set up Forder, who shot straight at the keeper.

Play was fairly even until, in the 25th minute, Bush cleverly chipped the ball up to hit it on the volley to open the scoring.

Poringland created a chance which was hit straight at Ashby, who was deputising for the injured Butters in the home goal.

On 35 minutes the Bulldogs went 2-0 up when Spalding headed home following good approach work by Bush.

On 41 minutes Spalding had a shot tipped over by the Poringland keeper, and there was just enough time before the interval for the visitors to go close with a header which just cleared the bar.

After 49 minutes a Bush free-kick was headed over the bar by Spalding, and a few minutes later Ashby, who was performing well in the home goal, made a brave save at the feet of an onrushing forward.

Frost had a chance created by Seabright but shot straight at the keeper, then on 57 minutes Hancy headed over from a Bush corner.

Poringland were still very much in the game, and their No 9 shot over when well placed before Ashby made another good save low down.

Eves and Melton were both giving little away in the middle of the home defence, but as the game was drifting to its conclusion the visitors were awarded a penalty for a foul in the box. Ashby crowned a very good day's work with a fine diving save to his right to retain a well-deserved clean sheet.

Bradenham entertain Stalham Town in their concluding game of a very successful season.

Bradenham Reserves visited Thorpe Village Reserves on Saturday requiring just one point to secure the Anglian Combination Division Six championship.

They were not overly impressive early on and turned round at half-time level at 1-1.

However, a much more lively second-half performance saw them score another four goals to end up winning 5-2 and finish the season off in style.

This was the team's first season in the Anglian Combination and they look forward to competing next season in Division Five.
