Third win for Bradenham

BRADENHAM entertained Stow at the Green on Saturday in Norfolk Alliance Division One and bagged their third win of the season in their new section, reaching the target of 150 with nine overs to spare.

On a rain-affected pitch, Bradenham won the toss and had no hesitation in inserting the visitors. Bowman and Thompson looked solid against the moving ball before Bowman was caught by Mike Taylor from a leading edge.

Cutworth was caught behind off Gates. Mark Cator and Brett Gates worked in tandem and bowled their quota of overs for 45 runs, including 10 maidens.

Thompson was joined by Eddie Landymore and both batted with control against Tianne Mostert and Brett Stolworthy and put on 50 before Thompson (43) tried to force the pace and was well caught by Ry Findlay diving backwards.

Stolworthy claimed his second wicked by clean bowling the Zimbabwean, Mahwire. Even though wickets were falling around him Landymore punished any bad balls, reaching his well-deserved, half-century from 85 balls.

With the run rate increasing Ro Thurley was introduced into the attack and made an immediately took two wickets in three overs. Landymore pushed for the extra batting point but was caught off the last ball of the innings for a fine 73, taking his team to 149.

Thurley was the pick of the bowlers ending with figures of 4-28.

Bradenham opened up with youngsters Luke Findlay and Rob Thurley who pushed the ball around the field, building a partnership of 21 before Findlay was trapped lbw by S Mouton. Mostert joined the youngster and was ever-watchful on the drying pitch.

With the score on 50 a mix-up saw Thurley run out for 21.

Veteran Patrick Dewing joined Mostert and they continued where they had left off the previous week, both batsmen taking a liking to the Brassett family, dispatching Colin and David for 44 runs in seven overs.

With still 40 runs needed for victory Ryan Findlay (12) was pushed up the order and looked comfortable against the Zimbabwean international before being caught at backward point off Colin Brassett.

It was left to skipper Mike Taylor to watch the seasoned campaigner Dewing strike the winning runs ending his innings on 30 not out and complete Bradenham's win.
