Dereham Town are a point off sixth place in the Ridgeons Premier as they travel to fourth-bottom Harwich & Parkeston on Saturday.

New striker Sebastian Muddel made his debut last weekend and created the Magpies' first goal in their revenge win at Stanway Rovers when his low ball was deflected into his own net by defender Mark Gatsford after 31 minutes. Second-half goals from Daniel Beaumont, Nicky Howell and Craig Terrington gave Dereham an unassailable lead ahead of Ray Turner's late consolation goal.

Rovers had inflicted a 5-1 defeat on the Magpies earlier in the season. A swirling wind tested both sides. Stanway skipper Turner fired across the face of the Dereham goal in the second minute before the Magpies won a flag kick with the Essex side clearing Terrington's near-post delivery, writes Rene Kendal.

Muddel made his first contribution in the 13th minute, sending Ollie Willis down the right. The full back's pacy centre was headed behind for another corner which keeper Church punched to safety.

As Dereham settled, Harris just failed to reach Ollie Willis' deep cross. Play was disjointed before Stanway won their first corner in the 22nd minute, but Harewood's ball into the near post was easily cleared.

After a mediocre period, Barrett fired over from 30 yards. In the 31st minute Muddel received the ball on the left of the area and produced a dangerous low ball towards Harris which defender Gatsford sliced into his own net. It should have been 2-0 two minutes later when Gusterson found Muddel with a 20-yard pass. The new man put Howell clean through but as he looked to round Church, the keeper grabbed the ball from his foot. Dereham were looking much more lively. Harris picked out Muddel on the left with a great pass and his curling centre was headed to safety.

Stanway came out looking for the equaliser after the break and Sam Newson turned well in the box to create a chance but shot tamely into keeper Marshall's arms in the 51st minute.

Dereham responded with Sam Willis lifting a deep cross over the home defence towards the far post where Muddel produced a skilful overhead kick which struck the side netting.

Newson found space again in the Dereham box before striking a firm low drive which forced Marshall into a smart save. In the 61st minute Terrington combined well with Harris with the latter beating two home defenders before just failing to find Howell, who was well placed.

Dereham skipper Gusterson made a crucial headed clearance, conceding a corner. Terrington headed Emerson's flag-kick to safety. In the 61st minute Beaumont replaced Muddel, and with his first touch the striker blazed way off target from Sam Willis' pass.

Stanway won a corner on the right. From Emerson's centre, striker Turner's goal-bound header struck team-mate Sam Newsom was on the line to prevent a Rovers goal.

In the 67th minute Harris went on a mazy run outside the home box, rounding three men before hitting the left-hand post with a superb curling drive. However, Nicky Howell was on hand to net the rebound from close range.

Two minutes later Harris set up Terrington to drill home home a brilliant shot from 30 yards.

Church made a fine save to keep out Howell's fierce drive with Dereham in full flow. In the 84th minute Danny Beaumont charged down keeper Church's attempted clearance, the ball cannoning off the striker and entering the net for Dereham's fourth goal.

On time home skipper Turner drilled home a 20-yard consolation goal.
