Dereham Town must overcome the shock of manager Rob Taylor's dismissal and the disappointment of last weekend's Norfolk Senior Cup semi-final defeat as they get back to chasing a high finishing position in the Ridgeons Premier with a home match against bottom side Newmarket on Saturday (ko 3pm.)

Supporters will be keen to see how the Magpies, cup winners in the previous two seasons, react to the double blow of losing their manager and seeing a third successive place in a Carrow Road final snatched from their grasp with two goals in time added on by Dolphin Autos Anglian Combination outfit Sheringham at Aldiss Park.

Dereham Town 3, Sheringham 4

The Dereham ground staff worked hard to remove the overnight snow ensuring that the pitch was playable, writes Rene Kendal.

In the third minute the Magpies won a corner from which with Barrett had a close-range shot blocked before Gusterson volleyed over.

Both sides were getting adjusted to the sticky surface in the opening 10 minutes with Dereham doing most of the pressing. The Shannocks had their first chance when Beavis found space on the left of the Dereham area and delivered a dangerous low cross that Tanti was unable to reach.

Harris fired across the Sheringham goal and wide in the 15th minute. Banham then made a great tackle to deny Beaumont as he looked set to shoot. Sheringham took the lead when they won a free kick on the right 30 yards out. Kristrian Gleave curled a great ball into the Dereham box with Andy Eastoe rising well to glance a firm header into the top right hand corner of the net..

Dereham should have equalised minutes later when Beaumont blazed way over the top after receiving Harris' square pass. The Magpies continued to press but a mixture of poor final deliveries and good Sheringham defending kept them at bay.

Beaumont made a fine run through the middle of the park in the 44th minute before trying his luck from 30 yards with his well-struck right foot effort flashing narrowly wide as the Anglian Combination side went in 1-0 up at half-time.

Dereham made a positive start to the second half, keeper Marshall launching a long clearance that bounced into the visitor's box with Walton just beating Beaumont to the ball. Terrington then delivered a deep free kick to the back post with Harris heading back to Foley, who stabbed a close-range effort over the top.

As it became one-way traffic towards the Sheringham goal, Dereham finally equalised in the 65th minute. Harris picked the ball up on the left flank and moved inside before teeing up Adam Gusterson, who slotted home from close range.

Three minutes later the Magpies went in front when Anselin chipped the ball over the Sheringham defence to Harris, who sprinted forward before squaring for Ollie Willis to slot home from close range.

The Shannocks hit back form a corner in the 75th minute, however. Amis's flag-kick was punched out to Kristian Gleave, who unleashed a powerful left-foot shot they Marshall palmed onto the bar, Stuart Barker heading home from close range to make it all square.

Harris' fierce left-footer was inches off target, Ollie Willis forced Walton into a good save that earned Dereham a corner. From Terrington's second centre Nicky Howell climbed well near the penalty spot to head home in the 83rd minute to regain Dereham's lead.

Ollis Willis then nearly sealed the game, the full back making a great forward run before striking the Shannocks'. Walton then made another good save to deny Harris.

In time added on, Harris shot narrowly wide before Sheringham equalised in the 95th minute, Roy Beavis slotting home from close range after substitute Parker had made a great run down the right.

Sheringham then won the tie from their next attack. Kristian Gleave found space on the left and delivered a low cross that eluded three Dereham defenders. Keeper Marshall could only palmthe ball out to Ollie King, who made no mistake from point blank range to take the Anglian Combination side to Carrow Road.
