Mattishall U14 ended their season by winning the South Norfolk Plate. After a convincing two-leg victory over Rocklands in the semi-finals, they went to Weeting for the final against New Buckenham.

The breakthrough came from a headed clearance from Jed Snell, the ball reaching Jack Hood, who finished well. Jack Vargeson and Aiston Hull gave the New Buckenham midfield little time to settle, Tom Muller had the measure of the full-back down the right, and Michael Baggott combined creative play down the left with excellent defensive work.

Second half, from a free-kick, Jack Hood found Jed Snell, whose header doubled the Mattishall lead. Buckenham grabbed a goal back then equalised.

The defence remained focused and Lane had a superb game in goal. With 10 minutes remaining, Jonny Herman found Jack Hood on the edge of the box, and with his back to goal, he chested the ball down, turned and sent a half-volley into the bottom-right corner.

Mattishall were rewarded for the effort and hard work they have put in throughout the season.
