Dereham's pursuit of the Alliance Division Two leaders got a massive boost when Garboldisham were disposed of in emphatic style, two players completing centuries.

Put into to bat on a damp wicket, Dereham knew had to perform after last week's disappointing performance.

After the opening 10 overs, David Lake and Duncan Hewitt had got over the difficult part of the innings. Garboldisham's bowlers were having no joy as the openers took the total over 100.

Lake (101) put on the after burners as he assaulted the attack with his flowing bat. He raced to superb century in a stand of 187.

Hewitt (100no) was supported well by Jake Anema and Kristien Fletcher, and reached three figures in the 45th over.

Joe Marczewski's swash- buckling hitting, which included a massive six into Norwich Road, saw Dereham post 273 for three from 46 overs.

With the wicket having become perfect for a run chase, Garboldisham got off to the worst possible start as Gary Starling sent their skipper back to the pavilion with the score unmoved.

Kristien Fletcher supported him, bowling three consecutive maidens and taking prized wickets.

Garboldisham did not know how to play Anema's slow, looping bowling. He took three caught and bowleds and moved his tally of wickets to 28 for the season as the visitors disintegrated to a paltry 101.

Hewitt said: 'Yes, were pleased, but the next match will be so important. Hethersett & TV are on a run, and we aim to stop that.'
