The TSKUK England karate squad returned from the Japanese Shotokan Karate world championships held in Portimao, Portugal with an impressive 29 medals, two of them golds from a Dereham student.

Charlotte Taber (13, pictured), who attends the Neatherd High School, won her golds in the Black Belt Individual Kata (technical moves) and the Team Kata. She also won a silver in Kumite (sparring).

Charlotte's proud to have been selected to represent her country in such a prestigious competition and is a student of the Eastern Shotokan Karate Association (ESKA). She was selected for the England squad along with six other ESKA students, all of whom came home with medals.

The event was well attended with teams from 22 countries from as far afield as India, Mexico and South Africa.
